A New One

Wow, friends. It’s been a while. Life has been really great and really crazy lately. Been working with Molly and training her anxiety away, Kathy’s life has been getting insanely busy with her two jobs – all that prayer apparently worked because both of her jobs have taken off as far as hours go. So I have been trying to pull a Samwise Gamgee and share the load at home again. :) I knew the day would swiftly come that my little housewife would abandon me to her own bread-winning.

The insane hour I write this is explained by the insane shifts I myself have been pulling at work the past few days. Overnights are fun here but – as I am clearly noting, I am no longer a teenager or a youth leader – therefore it takes much more a toll than it used to. I will feel this in full force tomorrow.

Ok, I can’t think of anything else right now – just passing time on this ridiculous shift. I already beat the PS3 game that I had brought to play all night. Whoops!

Oh- Kath has been having back problems flaring up again so we took her to the Chiropractor today and it seems to have been quite good for her. Pray for her continued healing and strengthening. I can see what kind of wicked pain she’s in and it hurts me too. THX!

Much love and peace,

D

Molly’s First Few

It’s about time to throw some pics up here and update the peeps on the latest in the world of Molly. We got her thursday night and have been getting used to living with each other for a few days now. Here are some highlights:

Molly is a Whippet-AmStaff mix. Thus she has incredibly short hair. On most of her body you can pretty much just see through to her skin. Whippets in particular are very sensitive to cold so we had to do something to assist her warmth on our walks. Kathy picked up this nice little number for $1.00 at the Salvation Army. This Is Where It’s At

Alright kids, we’ve been getting some great and some not-so-great name suggestions – and it’s time to announce the winner! Thanks to Jenny and Seth, our friends who fostered the dog for two weeks before we got her, her name shall remain MOLLY! I know, all of these great names… but Molly just fits. It works well and it’s time to stop fighting it. Here she is snuggling up after a brisk, cold walk this AM.

1.28.09

Well, I still have a job. Thanks everyone who has been praying for us and everything. It was an adventure of a week and I escaped unscathed. A lot of good people lost their jobs this week though. Including some I, personally, was very fond of. I wish them all the best and know that they’ll be fine but transition is always hard.

To wrap up doggie news, now that I know my job is secure we will be getting her. We have been trying to come up with a name for a good while and it’s not working. As I’ve said, she is currently called Ashanti or Molly… Molly is ok but, we nothing something that zings… Kate recently suggested Whippet Good -which is awesome, but we need to be able to call her something daily. Is that “Whip”? “Whippet”? I dunno. I need suggestions. Comment plz. I’ll give a prize to the name picked.

Just Some Updates

Hey there kids,

Not a lot going on at work today so I figured I’d shout out, give some updates and see whats up.

Still waiting on the dog thing. We have basically decided to get her as long as I remain employed, which will be determined in the next few days here. PNC has finally come to reap the NCC employees for good. So we will all find our fate by the end of the week. I can’t say I’m shaking in my boots, as I know that whatever happens God is in control and if it comes down to it… I’m not stuck in a lease and I have wonderful support system in my families (Attic living is where it’s at sometimes). I’m really only concerned because I dont want to go job hunting. I hate that crap!

I guess that’s it for now. Somebody holla back and tell me something good.

Uh oh…

UPDATED: At this point in our crazy lives it seems almost laughable to think about adding to our family already.

No Kathy is not pregnant. Sheesh. What is the case, however, is that our friends Seth and Jenny are currently fostering the cutest little Whippet-Pit mix in the world. She looks kinda like a small, white boxer. Kinda like… this!

For The Love

Falling for a city is an interesting thing. Before Cincinnati, I only ever called Cleveland home. I had an interesting relationship with her as she gradually grew on me. I suppose as I matured and was capable of love for my city it came sure enough. Though, I remember just how much I hated going downtown for the longest time. It was an absolutely miserable experience that thoroughly confused me and drove me to the brink of insanity.

When you aren’t familiar with the city, every street is a one way street just baiting you to turn down the wrong way. Every person on every corner is a pan-handler laughing at you when you do inevitably and errantly turn down this one way street and then waiting for that opportune moment to hit you up for “bus money”- not to mention they all have guns and are willing to shoot if you give them the wrong look. My Green Thumb 7

Ok kids, I let the updates lapse a bit so you wouldn’t get tired of it. Read on…

Since the latest update, I deemed the plants large enough to each be repotted into their own individual, larger pots. Above is a pic of the repotting process and should illustrate the relative size of the upgrade. I had a total of 4 of the little guys make it to infancy and hope for continued growth.
